CHARACTER
Character Name: Wufei Chang
Canon: Character
Timeline: End of series, before Endless Waltz
Crimes: Mass terrorism, manslaughter, murder, impersonating an officer, fleeing the scene of a crime, driving without a license, breaking and entering, arson, assault with and without a deadly weapon, possession of illegal weapons, general war crime nastiness.... Continuing on that line.
Personality: Due to Wufei’s wife’s, Meiran, death indirectly under the orders of Treize Khushrenada, Wufei became focused on revenge. He took up Meiran’s ideal of fighting for justice. During the series, he was prone to fight on his own unless he felt there was no other choice or he was ordered to join forces with the other gundam pilots. Because he was unable to protect the one person who mattered most, who happened to be a woman, Wufei felt people who were weak should not fight. This translated into whenever he came across a female fighter, he went out of his way to insult them and tell them to stop fighting because they were weak; therefore needed protection until proven they could take care of themselves.
When he failed to win the duel with Treize, he fell into a deep depression, considering himself weak and unworthy of fighting with the Nataku - the renamed gundam Shenlong.
He admired strength, even if it was just in the way a bird flapped its wings, or some other form of nature. The thing with Wufei’s temper was that whenever he was irritated or infuriated, his fighting style tended to grow sloppy and disorganized.
He's a fierce defender of honor and his people. So, when his colony chose to self-detonate rather than allow themselves to be used against him, his grief grew exponentially. Per the tradition of his people, he wore white to signify his grieving period. Even in Episode Zero, he wore white mourning clothes, which continued on into the series itself. He grieved for Meiran, then the rest of his clan and colony.
In short, he’s stubborn, passionate about his interests, and prefers his own company over others. By the end of the series, his obsession with justice remains his driving force behind fighting, though after Treize tricked him into striking the killing blow and avenging Meiran’s death messed with his mind as he considered the trickery honorless and the man's death made it impossible for him to let go and move on.
Abilities: Wufei is a skilled martial artist, pilot, and progedy (meaning his natural intelligence is pretty far above average and he can work out things faster than normal humans and his reaction time is faster and more accurate). He is as strong and fast as a human teenager can get through discipline and strict workout regimen. He is skilled with the sword and knows how to use projectile weapons (guns, missile launchers, etc). He has computer knowledge, though his hacking ability isn’t much above that of a normal human’s.
That said, he still has much to learn and strives to better himself even further. What is unusual is when he drives a motorcycle down a cliff without obeying normal physics. No explanation was given. He also has certain immunities to poisons and illnesses (though limited to those familiar on his version of Earth and the colonies) due to his pilot training.
Suitability: At first Wufei will keep to himself and do his best to ignore everyone. He will keep training as best he can in the athletic facility, working to strike out all distractions.
As the other people from his world draw him out, he will spend less time training alone and more time getting where he will be easier to find. The library where he'll work to further his education. The gardens where he'll work to make the plants as healthy as he can.
He will remain surely and brusk with everyone however, as he dwells on his perceived failures and attempts to find a space for himself in his mind that he can live with. Routine will help him, however, and he'll seek out ways to settle into such a routine where he feels the most useful. Possibly join the inmate run Defense Force.
